Our Learn to Lead courses take place across the Lake District and all over Scotland. We tailor locations to suit your goals, experience, and the weather—choosing the best crags for safe, effective learning. Whether it’s classic Lakes single-pitch or rugged Scottish multi-pitch, we adapt to give you the ideal climbing environment every time.

2-Day Learn to Lead – Itinerary Overview

Focused, hands-on coaching to build the skills and confidence needed for outdoor lead climbing. You’ll work on core techniques, anchor building, abseiling, and experience real rock climbing tailored to your pace.

Day 1:

• Lead climbing fundamentals

• Clipping, ropework, movement skills

• Building solid anchors

• Guided climbs suited to your level

Day 2:

• Skill consolidation and more climbing practice

• Route reading & lead tactics

• Cleaning anchors, safe lowering & abseiling

• Introduction to multi-pitch movement and safety

5-Day Learn to Lead – Itinerary Overview

An immersive week developing confident lead skills, anchor building, abseiling, and safe multi-pitch movement—all tailored to your progress and readiness.

Day 1: Fundamentals & skills introduction
Day 2: Clipping techniques, lead tactics & anchor building
Day 3: Mileage day—lots of guided climbs and system practice
Day 4: Multi-pitch movement, anchor construction, rope management & abseiling
Day 5: Final skills review, multi-pitch confidence & personalised progression plan

All technical climbing equipment is provided.
We recommend bringing your own climbing shoes, harness, helmet, and belay device for comfort and familiarity, but if you need to borrow any items, just get in touch and we’ll sort it for you.
